Emily’s inspiration stems from the intricate networks found in nature - the way mycelium weaves beneath the forest floor, fostering communication and resilience between trees. This sense of interconnectedness informs her work, as does a profound concern for biodiversity loss and environmental degradation. Emily’s practice invites us to slow down, reconnect with the land, and recognise the responsibility we each hold in caring for our ecosystems and communities.
Throughout 2025, Emily has spent time at Tir na nOg woodland near Balfron Station, drawing creative energy from the landscape. The resulting series, Rooted, is a compelling body of place-based work that speaks to nature’s quiet wisdom and the potential for human communities to reflect that same spirit of support and cooperation. The collection is being shown in the woodland gallery at Tir na nOg starting at the Scottish Wild Food Festival on the 17th May 2025 and two works will be in a group show at Weigh Ahead Gallery in Dunblane 31st May - 13th July 2025 - a gentle yet powerful call to reimagine our role as stewards of the Earth and our communities.
